Plasticizers

Novamont offers a portfolio of innovative bio-based plasticizers, specifically designed for the rubber and PVC industries.

The NAREGLAX® plasticizer, based on azelaic acid, can be used as a phthalate-free plasticizer, particularly suitable for low-temperature applications, with low migration and low volatility. It can be applied in PVC, NBR, and CR as a replacement for DOS and DOA.

Matrilox® plasticizers are based on a complex mixture of triglycerides and polyol esters, including oligomeric structures. A portion of the carboxylic acid residues is esterified with alcohols.
Matrilox® plasticizers provide a high-performance, non-toxic, and eco-friendly alternative, capable of partially or fully replacing conventional fossil-based process oils. Thanks to their high molecular weight and low volatility, Matrilox® plasticizers deliver excellent plasticizing efficiency and thermal stability.

Novamont has optimized the synthesis of the following two ester grades:
  • Matrilox® PF801E – Suitable for the production of oil-extended rubbers such as SBR and BR, and, if appropriately formulated, as a processing oil in rubber compound production.
  • Matrilox® PD204P – Designed to offer high compatibility with specialty elastomers including nitrile rubber (NBR), polychloroprene (CR), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
