The fatty acids are a mixture mainly composed of linear monocarboxylic acids of varying chain lengths (C5–C9) and appear as a viscous liquid.

Two product grades are available for different applications: FL002M, certified GMP+ and intended for feed use, and IL001M, intended for industrial applications.

The C5–C9 carboxylic acid mixture has been approved under Reg. (EU) 68/2013 as a raw material for animal feed, supported by the European Union’s restrictions on the use of antibiotics in animal feed. Its broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity reduces both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial counts. Additionally, due to their efficient energy utilization in intermediate metabolism and higher digestibility, these acids contribute positively to promoting animal growth.

To ensure consistent commitment to quality and safety throughout the food chain, Novamont has obtained GMP+ certification (Good Manufacturing Practices), an internationally recognized standard developed specifically for animal feed manufacturers.
The industrial grade is used in the formulation of esters for applications in the paints, inks, and detergents sectors.
