The case study of bio-BDO at the 13th edition of the World Bio Markets 2018

The 13th edition of the World Bio Markets 2018, one of the largest conferences on the progress of the bioeconomy around the world, started on March 20th and will end on March 22nd.

Held in Amsterdam and dedicated to the industries of biochemicals, biofuels and sustainable products, World Bio Markets brings together expert speakers from the three supply chains,  for three consecutive days of networking and learning.

On these days, more than one hundred international speakers are addressing the issue of the use of sustainable raw materials from plant origin, the boost of  investments in the sector and of the creations of new partnerships, and the issue of how to enter innovative products onto the market.

Today Stefano Facco, Head of NOVAMONT’s New Business Development, will be the speaker in the session "Achieving proof of concept on an industrial scale", dedicated to industrial scale-up.

In his speech entitled "Sourcing cheap, readily available, and sustainable feedstock to support your scale-up process”, Stefano Facco will present the example of bio-butanediol produced by MATER-BIOTECH plant.

MATER-BIOTECH, 100% owned by NOVAMONT, is the world’s first dedicated industrial plant for the production of 1,4 BDO directly from sugars. It represents a fundamental development of NOVAMONT’s biorefinery, integrating chemical processes for the production of biochemicals with industrial biotechnology, and thereby paving the way for the production of other chemical intermediates from renewable sources.
