NOVAMONT, one of Circular Economy’s champions in Brussels
On April 24, Legambiente and 100 Italian champions of the Circular Economy, including NOVAMONT, will meet the European institutions in Brussels for the final stage of the Green Train 2017. The Green Train is Legambiente and Ferrovie dello Stato’s initiative, that every year takes place and foresees a tour of the main Italian cities with the aim to promote sustainable and virtuous lifestyles.
Legambiente will present to the Vice President of the EU Commission, Jyrki Katainen and the MEP Simona Bonafè, rapporteur of the Circular Economy Package, the circular economy Manifesto that encompasses the most important experiences presented on board of the Green Train, in order to raise awareness of the many excellences that have invested on this new model of economic development. Legambiente’s proposal will represent an important contribution to the ongoing discussion on Circular Economy. Recently, in fact, the Parliament approved measures in favor of biobased and biodegradable and compostable packaging which carry a potential – if approved in the final discussion – for a more sustainable development of this sector. This initiative gives the opportunity to show once more that behind materials and/or products there is a cultural change in the economic and production model.
As a circular economy champion, NOVAMONT presented aboard the Green Train its best practices in the field of bioeconomy through the creation of integrated biorefineries in the territory and providing solutions for everyday life, with low environmental, social and economic impacts. Visitors will have the opportunity to see MATER-BI’s many applications: bags for biowaste separate collection, biodegradable mulch films, coffee capsules.
