Novamont in the UK for "a Zero-Waste Embassy"

On June 12 at the Italian Embassy in London the "Zero-Waste Embassy" initiative was launched. The project, which aims to reduce significantly the environmental impact of the office in terms of energy supply, management of waste and consumption, is part of the “Farnesina Verde”, the action plan launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
During the press conference, Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta recalled that after two months from the beginning of the initiative, thanks also to the introduction of Mater-Bi compostable products, undifferentiated waste now represents only about 20% of the total, compared to around 50% separate waste collection and about 30% organic waste.
 
Catia Bastioli, Novamont CEO, emphasized  how the virtuous choice of the Embassy to adopt compostable products that can be transformed into quality humus is a concrete act towards a sustainable development model that pays attention to natural resources and that, if multiplied, can trigger an exponential growth process of aspirations and opportunities.
 
After the conference, Matthew Green, Environmental Correspondent of Thomson Reuters, moderated the panel discussion "Investing in the future through circular economy" attended by Catia Bastioli, Mauro Micillo, CEO of Banca IMI, Head of Corporate & Investment Banking Division, Intesa SanPaolo, Tom Pye, Team Leader, Resources & Waste Strategy at DEFRA, Hugh McCann, Global Partners Lead - Europe, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Sabrina Corbo, also present at the press conference as CEO of Green Network, with whom the Embassy signed an agreement for the supply of electricity and gas 100% from renewable sources.
