Novamont has received "Premio Impresa Ambiente" award
On February 4, the IX Edition of the "Premio Impresa Ambiente" ceremony, the highest Italian recognition for companies, public and private entities that have made an innovative contribution to processes, systems, partnerships, technologies and products in terms of sustainable development, environmental respect and social responsibility, was held at La Fenice Theater in Venice.
The award is promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Venice Rovigo, in collaboration with Unioncamere and is under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition.
During the event, Novamont Group received the prestigious award in the category "Best process/technology for sustainable development", reserved to companies that have developed and applied a new production technology capable of making a concrete contribution to sustainable development and environmental protection, for the process of the Mater-Biotech plant in Bottrighe.
Among the motivations for this recognition, the fact that "an innovative process for the production of 1,4 butanediol obtained from renewable resources through fermentation and no longer from an oil-based process has been implemented. The plant has also been involved in industrial reconversion and regeneration, that allowed a significant saving of land consumption as well as a reuse of about 60% of the existing plant, transforming the old one into a state-of-the-art plant, a champion of energy efficiency".
Stefano Dessì, Plant Director, collected the award and from the stage he recalled the various measures and solutions that have involved Mater-Biotech over the years and that have made it possible to achieve important results in the field of energy efficiency, minimizing waste and maximizing the recovery of energy waste, ensuring the integration of the site in the surrounding area.
