NOVAMONT AMONG THE GUESTS OF THE FINANCIAL TIMES’ CIRCULAR ECONOMY SUMMIT

On May 25th, Catia Bastioli, NOVAMONT’s CEO, participated in London at the Financial Times’s Circular Economy Summit. The leading stakeholders from both institutions and industry faced how businesses are transforming product and services in order to address the new environmental and social challenges in the light of the circular economy

Catia Bastioli presented NOVAMONT’s model of bioeconomy and how it can represent an opportunity to decarbonize the economy and reconnect it with society. Bastioli also showcased the main compostable Mater-Bi applications, as an example of products designed to solve specific environmental problems, as the organic waste in landfill. Separate collection with compostable bags  done in Milan, and more recently in Paris, demonstrates how bioplastics contribute to the implementation of a correct and efficient management of organic waste in circular way.

Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and Andrew Morlet, Managing Director of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, highlighted how investments in new technologies and product redesign could help the transition to a future with low emissions.

NOVAMONT joined the New Plastics Economy project launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in order to redesign the world of plastic packaging in a sustainable way. The aim is to create a common development protocol to establish shared standards and encourage innovation opportunities in the sector.
