Novamont collaborates with Unicoop Firenze
Unicoop Firenze was the first large scale retailer in Italy to replace shopping bags in traditional plastic with those in MATER-BI and from February 2014 it has been confirming its commitment towards the environments by adopting bioplastic bags and gloves in the fruit&vegetables departments in all its 103 points of sale.
The project, realized in collaboration with NOVAMONT and the IPT processing company from Scarperia (Florence), started in November 2012 with trials at four points of sale in the province of Siena (in the municipalities of Siena, Poggibonsi and Colle Val d’Elsa). These were followed by the “inCoop” outlets in Poggibonsi and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, and from February 2014 all the points of sale in Florence and throughout Tuscany have been involved.
Biodegradable and compostable MATER-BI products have proved to be the most effective to increase the the capture rate of the organic waste and ensure its recovery in anaerobic digestion and composting plants. Therefore, they are a fundamental resource for ensuring the quality of organic waste, increasing the efficiency of the entire process, from production to collection and to disposal.
